Mamelodi Sundowns have bolstered their technical team ahead of the new season by appointing Romain Folz (34) as their new assistant coach.
According to reports, the French-born coach, who previously managed AmaZulu FC in South Africa, joins the experienced duo of Manqoba Mngqithi and Steve Komphela on the Sundowns bench.
Folz brings a wealth of South African experience having also coached Marumo Gallants. He recently departed Guinea’s Horoya AC to take on this new challenge.
This move strengthens Sundowns’ coaching staff as they prepare for the upcoming season. The Brazilians are currently on their pre-season tour in Austria, where they look to improve after losing their previous friendlies.
Their MTN8 campaign kicks off in the second week of August, with Polokwane City their first opponent. The team is expected to return to South Africa next week to continue preparations for the domestic cup competition.
