Let the sound of Samba prevail and herald in a new age of supporters for Brazilian football! It’s from deep in South America that we find our appetite for club football quenched and as a delicate dessert: A 5/1 treble included…Bon appetit – or should I say Bom Apetite!
Saturday 2 July
Fluminense 12/10
Draw 17/10
Corinthians 49/20
(21:30)
The visitors come into this game off the back of a rather toothless draw to archrivals Santos. Fluminense have had the better of their guests in recent encounters, with the hosts winning four of their last six.
For me, under 2.5 goals at 9/20 is the banker though. These sides have seen more than two goals being scored between them just once in the last seven years! As a great man once said – “if it aint broke…”
Juventude 33/10
Draw 2/1
Atletico Mineiro 17/20
(21:30)
I’m not sure Juventude remember what that winning feeling experience is like! I mean they haven’t managed to score more than a single goal since April, let alone kill off an opposition.
The same cannot be said for their guests though, Mineiro come into the game after winning three on the bounce and scoring more than a goal in every one. Get behind the visitors with confidence.
Sunday 3 July
Santos 18/10
Draw 18/10
Flamengo 15/10
(00:00)
Tricky game I think, both teams have largely blown hot and cold all season and stayed clear of any consistency. Flamengo have been a bit more direct – even at their own expense – whereas Santos looks as though they prefer ball retention and playing through the phases.
I can’t see where these two can be split, so why keep trying to complicate it? Back the draw at a steady price.
Ceara 29/20
Draw 17/10
Internacional 39/20
(00:00)
Historically these sides cannot really be separated but given the canvas of their respective seasons – you must side with the visitors. Ceara haven’t been able to get past their opposition for an agonizing five weeks, I’m not sure that this changes anytime soon.
Internacional haven’t themselves exactly blown teams out of the water, but their results have been there and there abouts. At 39/20 you shouldn’t need too much more convincing to have a dabble.
Palmeiras 9/20
Draw 11/4
Athletico Paranaense 6/1
(02:00)
You might look at this fixture and think it will be titanic – given their table positions – but I think it will be incredibly one-sided. The hosts have been surgical so far in the domestic campaign and I can’t see them being beaten here.
9/20 is generous – get stuck in.
Avai 12/10
Draw 18/10
Cuiaba 24/10
(17:00)
There isn’t much to split these two sides at the end of the day. I mean looking at their results so far might extract a well-deserved ‘eh’ and maybe a shoulder shrug – but aren’t going to expect them to start shooting the lights out in the league.
The markets might lean toward a home win, but I’m going to go with a draw. I wouldn’t add it to too many multiples – but if you require a ‘get out stakes’ this weekend, well this might be the place to go.
Atletico Goianinse 39/20
Draw 17/10
Sau Paulo 29/20
(21:00)
Sau Paulo seems to have an affinity with stalemates, to the point where even after just 14 rounds of fixtures, I think they will live to regret those missed opportunities.
The hosts haven’t been much better though, and I don’t think they can match their guests all over the football field. I’m going to back the away win/draw double chance and over 1.5 goals at even money.
America Mineiro 8/10
Draw 2/1
Goias 33/10
(23:00)
I must be honest, the price available on the home win surprised me. They’ve struggled so far in the Brazilian elite league and with such an inconsistent and uninspiring recent record – 8/10 seems short.
Their visitors come into the game off the back of a 1-0 home win, and they will undoubtedly find confidence in that result. I’m going to play devil’s advocate and challenge the bookies here – back the away win/draw double chance at 8/10.
Coritiba 33/20
Draw 17/10
Fortaleza 7/4
(23:00)
Not exactly the fixture that will steal the headline, but last-placed Fortaleza (at least on paper) look to be the favoured team coming into this game. Yes, they’ve blown hot and cold – and probably deserve to be last – but they have shown they know how to win.
It’s from that point I take my cue and am inclined to go with them. However, the betting angle I recommend for larger multiples and collections is both teams scoring at even money!
TREBLE @ 4/1
Atletico Mineiro 17/20
Palmeiras 9/20
Coritiba v Fortaleza: BTTS 1/1
