ABSA Premiership | Tuesday 17 September | Bidwest Stadium | 19:30
To Win (90 Min)
Bidwest Wits 9/10
AmaZulu 3/1
Draw 22/10
After Wits’ regulation three-pointer against Ajax on Friday, Gavin Hunt mentioned he was still not 100% happy with his university side.
The fact is that they’re unbeaten without having to do too much to achieve this.
A win’s a win at the end of the day (another unintentional Naas Botha quote), but complacency when things have been relatively easy is a dangerous thing.
Tuesday night’s clash with AmaZulu will more than likely change that.
It’s now three wins from four for the Durban-based Usuthu, and with victories coming from tough fixtures, namely Pirates, Swallows and Ajax, Craig Roslee’s Zulu warriors will be mighty chuffed with themselves.
They’re one of the better run clubs in the league, and this professionalism showed against Swallows, which I had backed as my value bet based on their seemingly slick start to the season.
It’s not normally considered a high profile match, but we’ve two sides in the top four who’ll be itching to continue their fine starts, making this a tough fixture to call.
Betting Prediction: Draw
With the head-to-head comparison just as even as their current form, I can only see value in punting the draw at 22/10 here.
