Chippa United will take on AmaZulu FC at the Buffalo City Stadium this weekend, without the services of their starting striker.
Chippa United, currently 9th on the table with 25 points from their opening 20 Betway Premiership fixtures, are desperate to secure a top-eight finish to guarantee a spot in next season’s MTN8 cup.
The Gqeberha-based team is just four points shy of the top half of the table, meaning things could change relatively quickly for Thabo September & Co as they bid to climb the standings.
This weekend, they will lock horns with KZN based AmaZulu without the services of ex-Orlando Pirates striker Bienvenu Eva Nga. The thirty-two year old is ruled out of the clash as he will serve a one-match suspensions after receiving his fourth yellow card of the season in Chippa’s 2-0 win over Polokwane City FC.
The Cameroon attacker has been a key contributor in attack, featuring in 23 matches across all competitions and scoring three goals.
He joins teammate Boy Madingwane, who is also serving a one match suspension for an accumulation of yellow cards. The defender joined Chippa from Baroka FC at the start of the season and has made nine appearances for his new club.
Their absence could prove pivotal in what is expected to be a fiercely contested match against seventh placed AmaZulu. The hosts will have to find ways to adapt in the absence of these important players as they look to capitalize on an Usuthu outfit who are winless across their previous three league outings.
The KwaZulu-Natal-based side will look to complete a league double over the Chilli Boys, having run out two nil winners at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium in the reverse fixture.
Kick off at the Buffalo City Municipality Stadium in East London is set for 15h30 on Saturday, 29 March 2025.
