Benni McCarthy provides update on his future after Manchester United exit

Benni McCarthy admits he is waiting on an offer from one of three Major League Soccer teams he has interviewed with.

The former Cape Town City and AmaZulu coach is without a club after parting ways with Manchester United following the completion of his two-year contract and the departure of former boss Erik ten Hag.

McCarthy, who worked as a striker coach with the Red Devils, is eager to take up another head coach role and has spoken of his interest in moving to the United States.

He said on IOL: “I had three interviews in the MSL. That’s where I could be targeting to go.

“For now, they are towards the end of their season and they are just waiting for the play-offs to crown the champions. After that, they will decide.

“But I’m looking forward to one of those positions in the MLS which I was interviewed for. I would really like to coach there and improve my career.”

McCarthy added that he is ambitious to coach at the highest level in the game.

“If you dream small, you achieve small, but if you dream big, you achieve big things and that’s what I’m doing,” he explained.

“I am dreaming big and I am looking at going to the MLS and experience the game there and see what we can achieve.

“I have set my ambitions very high and that’s why I went for those interviews.”
