Stellenbosch CEO Rob Benadie insists that Ashley du Preez will remain at the club this season.
The 24-year-old has been a solid performer for Stellies over the past few campaigns and as a result, reports suggest an imminent exit for the player.
The versatile frontrunner has been linked with Kaizer Chiefs but Benadie explains that Du Preez is a massive part of the club’s plans for the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season.
Stellies are up against Orlando Pirates in their league opener this weekend, with Benadie saying on Kick Off: “Du Preez, he’s one of our key assets, the way he plays, he’s key to Steve’s philosophy and how we want to play the game, so at this stage and for the foreseeable future, Ashley du Preez is a Stellenbosch Football Club player.”
Benadie added that interest from overseas might change their stance.
“We have got him secured, so unless my favourite club from overseas comes in for him I don’t think he’s going anywhere,” he added.
