Baroka aim to escape the foot of the table with victory over Gallants

Baroka will be looking for a rare three points when they travel to face Marumo Gallants in DStv Premiership this evening.

Bakgaga have won just three games all season and last suffered a 1-0 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs following a heavy 4-0 loss to an in-form Sekhukhune United.

Gallants are five places and eight points better off in 11 place with five wins from one less game played, but a result in midweek for Baroka could see them move as high as 14th.

Baroka head coach Kgoloko Thobejane reflected on his side’s recent loss. He said on SuperSport: “They took the three points, thanks to the boys they fought, they went all out. As I’ve said, ‘We need to apply pressure at all costs’ to Chiefs.

“But at the end of the day we need to back to the drawing board but the challenge is missing chances, those half-chances, clear chance.

“First-half we tried, second-half with the subs but it’s a game of football we can only take the positives out of it so we can prepare ourselves for the game against Gallants on Wednesday.”

Gallants boss Dan Malesela said: “We created problems for ourselves. We shouldn’t be where we’re at, where the score is 3-2 or whatever. We became our own enemy with these goals that are scored against us. These goals count at the end of the day.

“As long as we are making mistakes while collecting points it is okay. We will get better and better.”
