Barcelona edging closer to signing Kounde

Barcelona are reportedly edging closer signing Sevilla defender Jules Kounde after agreeing to personal terms with the French international.

According to Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, personal terms won’t be an issue in holding up a move and Barcelona will be hoping to pay around €60 million for the 23-year-old.

Kounde is regarded as one of the best defenders in Europe having had three brilliant seasons with Sevilla since his arrival in 2018 from Bordeaux.

The defender has made 133 appearances for Sevilla, scoring nine goals and three assists plus looks likely to leave the club this summer after interest from many European sides, including the Catalan Giants.

Barcelona recently acquired defender Andreas Christensen from Chelsea, but are hoping to add another class defender in to the mix as Gerard Pique’s career is slowing down plus Samuel Umtiti, Clement Lenglet and Oscar Minugueza are seen as surplus to requirements at the Catalans.

This all means that Kounde is a great option for Barcelona given his age and experience in playing in La Liga, having spent three years at Sevilla.

According to Romero, Barcelona are hoping to fork out around €55 million to €60 million to make the deal happen.
