Banyana Banyana have been drawn in Group A with hosts Cameroon, Egypt and Zimbabwe. Their opening match is against Zimbabwe on Saturday, November 19.

Their second encounter is against the Indomitable Lions on Tuesday, November 22 with their final group match set for Friday, November 25 against the Pharaohs.

  • Zimbabwe: making their 4th appearance. Last appeared in 2004 when they finished in the group stages. Best finish was 4th place in 2000.
  • Egypt: Only their second appearance, last featured in the tournament in 1998 where they were knocked out in the first round
  • South Africa and Zimbabwe were the two African representatives at the Olympics

  • It is an international women’s football competition held every two years

  • The competition has served as a qualifying tournament for the FIFA Women’s World Cup every other tournament since its inception in 1991
