Bafana report for Seychelles camp

Bafana Bafana reported for national team duty on Monday as coach Stuart Baxter’s men prepare for the crucial back-to-back games against Seychelles in the AFCON qualifiers.

Bafana return to international action on Saturday as they host minnows Seychelles at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg in what could be a pivotal result in Group E.

The return leg will take a place three days later in the country of the visiting nation.

South Africa have secured four points in their opening two matches but were disappointing in a 0-0 draw with Libya in their last match in the competition at home.

Meanwhile, the Indian Ocean archipelago are rock-bottom of the standings having lost all of their matches by a substantial score-line. Nigeria are the other team in the bracket in third.

As such, Bafana are expected to beat The Pirates although it stands to be a stiff test for SA with goal-scoring having proved to be a problem in recent times.

Thapelo Morena could be withdrawn from the squad after picking up a knock while on duty for Mamelodi Sundowns against Bidvest Wits on the weekend.

Goalkeeper coach Andre Arendse returns to the technical team after missing out against Libya due to undisclosed personal reasons. Saturday’s clash gets underway from 15:00.
