AmaZulu coach Cavin Johnson has urged Usuthu’s supporters to push their team on following Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Orlando Pirates in Umlazi.
The Buccaneers took a 14th minute lead through Augustine Mulenga before Emiliano Tade equalised in the 49th minute to salvage a point for the hosts.
Johnson was seen urging supporters to lift the atmosphere in the stadium during the game and explained why he did so after the match.
Speaking to SuperSport, he said: “That’s what [fans] are here for [hyping the team up].
“I always say in a crowd like this, they’ve got to be the 13th man.
“Because I thought if they really, really pushed the team, we would have got better opportunities, and that’s what I want from my people.
“They’re not coaches, they’re fans. They’ve got to push these people. They’ve got to push my team.
“We are employed as coaches. They are employed as fans of this team and they’ve got to push them.”
AmaZulu will have to contend with an increasingly vocal set of supporters when they visit Cape Town City in their next Premiership match on 27 October.
