Kaizer Chiefs return to Betway Premiership action at FNB Stadium after a three-week hiatus, looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

They have drawn four of their seven opening matches, including stalemates with Polokwane City and Golden Arrows in their last two encounters but they will have to make do without Brandon Petersen, Lebohang Maboe, Langelihle Phili and Siphesihle Ndlovu due to injuries.

Speaking ahead of the midweek game, Da Cruz explained that his team will cope without their injured stars.

“We are very well prepared for tomorrow,” Da Cruz said in the Citizen.

“I am not happy the players are injured but it is important that we focus on the players available.”

“We know it will be a tough game tomorrow, but after a few days off, the players have trained very well and with a lot of intensity,” added the head coach.

“You know when there is a break it is not easy to come back but we have prepared well.”

“I am very happy with the football we have played, the players understand our game model very well.”

Da Cruz added that he is happy with the state of his team but there is always room to improve.

“We have played quality football but there are weaknesses we have worked on. That is efficiency in the box to score more goals, and individual mistakes,” he explained.

We need more clean sheets and you won’t concede if you don’t make these mistakes.”
