Kaizer Chiefs return to Premiership action against Stellenbosch FC on Tuesday with four injury concerns, including goalkeeper Brandon Petersen, as Fernando da Cruz prepares his side for their first league fixture in three weeks.
The Soweto club have been without a league fixture for three weeks and will host Stellenbosch at FNB Stadium, hoping to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
Petersen remains unavailable as he continues his recovery from a knee injury, although the goalkeeper has returned to individual training. Midfielder Lebohang Maboe is also sidelined with an ankle problem after featuring in all eight of Chiefs’ matches this season.
“Chiefs still have four major injury concerns, with Brandon Petersen returning to individual training recovering a knee injury, Lebohang Maboe nursing an ankle injury, while Phili and Siphesihle Ndlovu remain long-term absentees,” the club confirmed on their website.

Renaldo Leaner is therefore expected to retain his place in goal after making an encouraging debut before the international break. Leaner kept a clean sheet in Chiefs’ goalless draw against Golden Arrows, providing Da Cruz with a dependable option while Petersen works towards a return.
The club have yet to provide an update on Luke Baartman, who was forced off with an injury during South Africa’s under-23 side’s 1-1 draw against Algeria last week.
Chiefs will be keen to resume their campaign with another positive result as they look to preserve their unbeaten record in the Premiership.
