Italian Serie A: Gameweek 16 Preview

Italian Serie A: Gameweek 16 Preview

The top four teams continue to drop points, while the undisputed champions maintain their consistency and unbeaten run. On the opposite end of the table, Bologna, Frosinone and Chievo occupy the relegation zone with the latter winless after 15 rounds. There’s another cracker gameweek ahead, let’s take a look at what’s good on the betting front!

Saturday 15 December

Inter Milan 7/20

Draw 39/10

Udinese 15/2

(19:00)

Inter Milan battled away at Juventus but failed to come away with a point, let alone three. However, they showed great fighting spirit despite going down 1-0. Udinese travel to the San Siro Stadium following their 3-1 loss at home to Atalanta, leaving them just two points off the drop. The Nerazzurri have won their last five home games, scoring 13 goals and conceding just once. Take Inter Milan on the (-1) Handicap at 9/10.

Torino 52/10

Draw 11/4

Juventus 6/10

(21:30)

Torino and Juventus will square off in a mouth-watering Turin derby on Saturday evening. The hosts have registered just five wins from 15 matches, while the Old Lady remain undefeated with 14 wins, scoring 32 goals and conceding just eight times. Although they say all form goes out the window in derby games such as these, I just can’t see Torino grinding out a win here. Back Juventus to come away with maximum points.

Sunday 16 December

SPAL 21/20

Draw 22/10

Chievo 29/10

(13:30)

SPAL 2013 are without a win in their last six matches and have managed just two wins from seven home games. However, bottom-of-the-log Chievo are yet to win a match, scoring just 12 goals and conceding 32 times. When two sides on the bottom half of the table square off, it’s rare to find a game filled with goals. With that being said, the Under 2.5 Goals market should be taken at 6/10.

Fiorentina 17/20

Draw 26/10

Empoli 3/1

(16:00)

Fiorentina are without a win in their last eight matches and will be desperate to return to winning ways. Empoli are winless on the road, scoring eight goals and conceding double that amount (16) but have been impressive in recent weeks with three wins from their last four games. I’m expecting a cagey affair and a closely fought contest. This one should go down to the wire but I’m backing Empoli on the Win/Draw Double Chance at 17/20.

Sampdoria 15/20

Draw 26/10

Parma 7/2

(16:00)

Sampdoria are off the back of a hard-fought 2-2 draw away to Lazio and will be looking to build on that. Parma were disappointingly held to a 1-1 draw on home soil against a terrible Chievo side who look destined to face the drop at the end of the season. La Samp have proven tough to beat on home soil and will be hoping to capitalize. Parma have been inconsistent on the road and should go down.

Frosinone 26/10

Draw 47/20

Sassuolo 21/20

(16:00)

19th-place Frosinone have managed just one win from 15 matches, scoring 11 goals and conceding three times that amount (33). Sassuolo are winless in their last four matches but are coming off a credible 3-3 home draw against Fiorentina. The newcomers are winless at home and that doesn’t look likely to improve here. Sassuolo are tipped to edge the win.

Cagliari 57/10

Draw 32/10

Napoli 9/20

(19:00)

Cagliari, believe it or not, along with Juventus and Napoli remain unbeaten at home. However, they are winless in their last six matches and that form is expected to continue. Napoli have been in top form six wins from their last eight games. The Azzurri have won the last five meetings against Cagliari, scoring 19 goals and conceding just once. With an average of four goals per game in the last five encounters and 19 of those came from Napoli, I’m backing them to Score in Both Halves at 13/10.

Roma 4/10

Draw 15/4

Genoa 13/2

(21:30)

Roma are winless in their last three games but will be determined to get back to winning ways on home soil against Genoa. The latter are without a win in their last eight matches and have lost five of their seven travels. The Giallorossi have been nowhere near their best but you can expect them to show off their quality against Genoa at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday night. Roma are tipped on the Half-time/Full-time win at 19/20.

Monday 17 December

Atalanta 5/4

Draw 5/2

Lazio 2/1

(21:30)

Atalanta have been in great form with five wins from their last seven games, including a 3-1 victory away to Udinese last time out. Lazio have drawn their last four matches and will be desperate to get back to winning ways. Biancocelesti are unbeaten in the last five meetings against La Dea but I’m expecting that to change here. Take Atalanta to claim all three points with a narrow win.

Tuesday 18 December

Bologna 33/10

Draw 49/20

AC Milan 17/20

(21:30)

Bologna are without a win in their last eight games and have registered just two wins from 15 matches. AC Milan have lacked consistency but have made it count against most of the smaller teams. The Rossoneri have won the last five contests against Bologna and offer decent value to make it six on the trot. Back AC Milan to get the job done once more.
TREBLE @ 15/2

Inter Milan (-1) Handicap 9/10

Napoli To Score In Both Halves 13/10

Roma HT-FT Win 19/20
