The 25-year-old joined Amakhosi as a free agent after his contract with Mamelodi Sundowns ended at the conclusion of the 2024/25 season, having spent last season on loan at AmaZulu FC.
He featured in seven matches for Chiefs before being plagued with injury, scoring one goal in a 3-1 victory to eliminate Tanzanian giants Simba SC from the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round.
“Last season was quite frustrating for me because of injuries,” admitted the Nigerian attacker.
“But that is behind me now and I am looking forward to a great season. Hopefully, you’ll see the best of me. I am pushing myself hard to make the Club and the supporters proud.”
“I really benefitted from pre-season because I didn’t play a lot of last season, so I needed the minutes in the practice games to build my confidence.”

Ighodaro has played in three matches this season under new coach Fernando Da Cruz and is expecting a tough battle in their next league clash against Siwelele on Sunday.
“Preparations are going well,” he added.
“We weren’t satisfied with getting only one point in our last game [against Richards Bay] and we are working hard to make sure we don’t slip up on Sunday.
“Siwelele play aggressively with a lot of commitment. So, we are ready for their physicality, but we believe in ourselves and our own ability to come out on top.”
