The Glamour Boys confirmed on Thursday that they have exercised the option-to-buy clause included in Mayo’s loan agreement, securing the 27-year-old’s services for an undisclosed fee. His contract with CR Belouizdad had been due to expire at the end of the 2026/27 season.
Mayo found game time hard to come by during his first season with Chiefs, making just 14 appearances in all competitions and scoring two goals. However, the club believes the forward still has plenty to offer as they prepare for a demanding campaign under new head coach Fernando Da Cruz.
In announcing the deal, Chiefs described Mayo as an important part of their plans for both domestic and CAF competitions.
“Kaizer Chiefs have completed the permanent signing of Khanyisa Mayo from Algerian giants CR Belouizdad, following his loan spell with the Glamour Boys last season. The deal was finalised for an undisclosed fee agreed upon between the two clubs,” the club said.
Mayo, who worked hard during his one-season loan stint, now commits his future to Chiefs as the team prepares for an ambitious campaign under head coach Fernando Da Cruz.
The 27-year-old forward will be a key part of the squad competing in both the domestic league and continental CAF competitions.
Mayo becomes the fourth player to join Chiefs during the current transfer window following the arrivals of goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner, defender Thabo Moloisane and Tanzanian midfielder Adolf Mtasingwa Bitegeko, as Amakhosi continue to bolster their squad ahead of the new season.
