Kaizer Chiefs defender Reeve Frosler highlights improvement under pressure

Chiefs have already secured third place in the Betway Premiership standings, but Frosler insists the Soweto giants remain motivated to end the campaign strongly.

A victory against the Chilli Boys would see AmaKhosi reach 57 points – a tally that would equal the club’s best league return in the last decade.

“We are on par to get 57 points, so it is a lot of improvement on last season,” Frosler said during Chiefs’ media day this week.

“We saw what we needed to do, we implemented it and now we are looking to get even better next season.”

Despite facing a Chippa side battling to avoid the relegation/promotion playoffs, the defender stressed that Chiefs will not underestimate the Eastern Cape outfit.

“Definitely not,” he said when asked whether Chiefs could take the match lightly. “Come Saturday, we want to equal our best points tally in the last 10 years.”

The former Bidvest Wits defender also reflected on Chiefs’ difficult period earlier in the season when the team suffered exits from both the Nedbank Cup and the CAF Confederation Cup.

Frosler admitted the pressure mounted heavily during January and February, but believes the squad showed character by responding positively.

“In the good times it is nice, everyone supports you, but then it gets difficult,” he said.

“In January and February it was a bit hard. The guys pulled together and we said only we can change our situation. We managed to turn it around and have ended decently.”

Chiefs’ improvement has been evident in recent months, with the club winning seven, drawing three and losing just one of their last 11 Premiership matches.

AmaKhosi will now be hoping to carry that momentum into their final fixture of the campaign as they look to close the season on a positive note in Durban.
