The Buccaneers moved to 60 points with the victory, opening up a six-point gap over Mamelodi Sundowns, who sit second on 54 points with a game in hand after not being in action this weekend, as reported Sportswire.

Pirates went into the match looking to bounce back from a setback in last weekend’s Soweto Derby, where they suffered a 2-1 defeat to 10-man Kaizer Chiefs. This time, however, they showed greater composure and determination, grinding out a narrow but crucial win to keep their title charge firmly on track.
Chiefs, meanwhile, maintained their upward trajectory with a 2-1 victory over Golden Arrows at Dobsonville Stadium. The result lifted Amakhosi from fifth to fourth place, taking them to 42 points as they continue to build momentum.
Young forward Naledi Hlongwane was the standout performer, netting a brace to secure all three points for Chiefs. His display follows an impressive showing in the Soweto Derby, where he registered an assist, underlining his growing importance to the side.
