Ndah eyes Betway Premiership lifeline after Orlando Pirates exit

Olisa Ndah is eager to remain in the Betway Premiership, says agent Mike Makaab, following the player’s recent exit from Orlando Pirates.

The 28-year-old centre-back asked to leave the Buccaneers despite still having time left on his contract.

Ndah joined Pirates from Akwa United in 2021 and quickly cemented his place at the heart of their defence, making 81 appearances and winning three MTN8 titles.

A number of injury knocks set him back last season, though, and he had yet to play for the club this season before his departure.

Ndah last played for Bucs in September 2024 in a 3–0 Betway Premiership win over Polokwane City, but has reportedly had a number of clubs interested in his services.

“The sporting director [of Libyan club Al Shomooa] has been in contact with me. We’ve had discussions. But Olisa’s priority is to stay in South Africa,” Makaab told FARPost.

“He needs stability in his life over the next 12 to 24 months. He’s recovered now from the injuries. He’s ready to compete.

“He’s mentally strong but for him, it’s important to be in an environment that is stable. And I’m not saying Libya is unstable. But it’s a new environment. If he had been playing regularly, we probably would’ve considered it.”

“Honestly, for us, it’s about finding him a home in South Africa, which I’m hoping will happen over the next few weeks,” Makaab added.

“And then let’s see his progress, because all we’ve got to hope is that Olisa stays injury-free and gets back to what we all know he’s capable of doing.”
