Relebohile Mofokeng hails vital three points after Orlando Pirates’ win against Magesi

Orlando Pirates attacker Relebohile Mofokeng lauded his teammates after scooping the Man of the Match award in the 2-0 Betway Premiership win over Magesi.

Yamela Mbuthuma opened the scoring for the title-chasing Buccaneers at the Orlando Amstel Arena after just eight minutes as he latched on to a Mofokeng pass.

Mofokeng then sealed the result with his effort on 40 minutes to lift Pirates back into second place on the standings with 32 points – level with leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, and with a game in hand.

Speaking to SuperSport TV after the match, the Bafana Bafana attacker explained how his side overcame the bottom-placed Magesi, after a recent goalless draw with Sekhukhune United in their first game of the new year.

“Against a low block, we will always have opportunity to play, opportunity to get touches, so yeah I think we did very well,” he said. “We trained the low blocks so yeah, I think we did very well.

“We needed the three points in our first game [against Sekhukhune United], we missed our opportunities, so we thought that this game will be the game for us to fix our problems, so I think we did very well to get the three points.

“Well done to the gents for getting the maximum points.”

Mofokeng also thanked the club’s fans for their support during the tie, adding: “Our fans always come in numbers. They make it very easy for us to have confidence to keep on going. The support they give us is very great. We enjoy it and when we do mistakes they keep us going.

“They must just come in numbers and we will give them the results.”

Pirates are next in action away to AmaZulu on Tuesday.
