
The Pharaohs are gunning for their eighth AFCON title, having last won the competition back in 2010 with a 1-0 win over Ghana in the final.
They were runners-up in both 2017 and in 2021, where they lost to Senegal, but still head into Wednesday’s clash at the Grand Stade de Tanger as slight favourites to make it to another final.
Speaking ahead of the midweek game, Hassan, who won three tournaments as a player, explained that he has seen a massive improvement in all the teams at AFCON and expects a tough encounter against the Lions of Teranga.

He said on Flash Score: “The standard of African football has increased markedly with the quality of players in each team being very impressive.
“There have been so many teams here with world class players, not only the experienced players but also youngsters, who have match-winning ability and an incredible skill set.
“Every side has its weaknesses, and we have studied Senegal in depth as we have planned for this game.
“We are sure they will be analysing our approach, too, so this could be decided on the small details.”
