Orlando Pirates have reportedly secured the services of Stellenbosch and New Zealand forward Andre de Jong ahead of the January transfer window.

According to iDiski Times, Orlando Pirates approached Stellies recently before reaching a club-to-club agreement for the sale, with personal terms with the player already agreed.

The former AmaZulu striker featured in 114 matches for the Western Cape winelands outfit, scoring 19 goals whilst providing 11 assists, with his last fixture for the club ending in a 2-1 loss against Polokwane City on Wednesday.

The experienced 29-year-old is set to join the Buccaneers officially on the first of January when the transfer window re-opens and his versatility in attack should boost the teams’ attacking options.

He will be competing with a host of star players for a starting berth in the current log leaders’ side as the Soweto giants push to claim their first league title since 2012.

De Jong will be looking to make a positive impact in order to retain his spot in the New Zealand squad ahead of next year’s FIFA World Cup in North America.
