Official Confirmation and Interim Leadership
The decision was announced via the club’s official social media channel. A statement from the club read: “Kaizer Chiefs FC and Head Coach Nasreddine Nabi hereby confirm that, following constructive engagements, they have mutually agreed to conclude their professional relationship on an amicable basis.”
In Nabi’s absence, his two lieutenants, Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, had been holding the fort over the past couple of matches.
The club confirmed in a follow-up post that this duo will continue to lead the technical team for the immediate future:
“Following the announcement earlier today… the Club can confirm that Coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze will lead the technical team for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.”
The assistant coaches were most recently in charge when Amakhosi suffered a disappointing 5-4 penalty shoot-out defeat to Stellenbosch FC in the Carling Knockout Cup last weekend.
The Road Ahead for Amakhosi
While the club statement confirms Kaze and Ben Youssef will see out the current season, speculation remains regarding the long-term coaching plans.
It is currently unclear whether the two assistants will continue to steer the team after the 2025/26 season, or if the club’s leadership is already working to secure a new head coach.
The focus for Chiefs now shifts to preparing for the return of league action after the international window as they aim to stabilize their season following the latest change in the technical structure.
