Evidence Makgopa replaces injured Iqraam Rayners for crucial Bafana World Cup qualifiers

Evidence Makgopa has been called up to replace the injured Iqraam Rayners for Bafana’s crucial upcoming World Cup qualifiers with Zimbabwe and Rwanda.

Rayners has been in top form for Mamelodi Sundowns this season nine goals in 12 games in all competitions this season.

He has four goals in 13 Bafana appearances, while his replacement, who has netted just once in 11 games for Orlando Pirates this season, has netted four times for South Africa in 18 appearances.

Broos was also forced to make an earlier alteration to his squad by replacing injured Relebohile Mofokeng with Mduduzi Shabalala.

A Bafana statement read: “Iqraam Rayners has been withdrawn from the Bafana Bafana camp due to medical reasons.

“He was released back to his club this morning. Evidence Makgopa has been called up as his replacement.”

Bafana take on Zimbabwe at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Friday before hosting Rwanda at the Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday.
