Daniel Akpeyi says he is ready to transition into coaching after finding himself without a club for the current Betway Premiership season.
The 39-year-old Nigerian shotstopper began his career in his homeland before making the switch to South Africa and Chippa United.
His performances for both club and country saw Akpeyi secure a move to Kaier Chiefs where he played 69 times, keeping 27 clean sheets.
He made the move to Moroka Swallows in 2022 and spent last season at Marumo Gallants, featuring just seven times in all competitions.
As a free agent, Akpeyi is still able to join a club of his choosing and says he would welcome a role that combines both playing and coaching.
“I have my CAF D Coaching Licence in hand, and very soon I will upgrade as I am ready to take on the next challenge and transition into coaching,” he told FARPost.
“You know, the club [Gallants] had other plans, but as an individual, I have to continue and hope for the best.
“Right now, there are two options: either to play or to coach, but I am looking at the transition. And I am also ready to accept a club that can allow both coaching and playing at the same time.”
