Orlando Pirates’ Tshepang Moremi praises Abdeslam Ouaddou after scoring a brace

Tshepang Moremi has credited head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou for guiding Orlando Pirates to the second round of CAF Champions League qualifiers.

The Buccaneers ran out comfortable 4-0 winners in their First preliminary round second leg against Lioli FC, for a 7-0 aggregate, with goals at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday from Moremi and substitute Yanela Mbuthuma.

Moremi broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time before striking again just four minutes after the restart to double their tally. Mbuthuma added to the scoreline a brace of his own in the closing stages, in the 79th and 81st minutes.

Pirates will now face the winner of the tie between DR Congo’s Saint-Eloi Lupopo and Sudanese side Al-Merreikh.

Moremi, who has four goals in nine appearances, alongside one assist for Pirates, since joining the Buccaneers at the beginning of the season from AmaZulu, says Ouaddou gave his team some important advice leading up to the second leg.

He said on iDsiki Times: “This game wasn’t easy because we knew since the first leg that coming to this game we had an advantage, so the coach told us we should keep on and when we get here, we must show them who we are – a big team, score and beat them.

“That’s why everything fell into place and even our team spirit is high since the camp. Everything is going well.”

Moremi added: “I’ve told the fans I’m still going to make them happy, everything has it’s time but now, we’re going up and not down.”

Pirates are next in action against TS Galaxy on Tuesday.
