Transfer News: Durban City sign Cape Town City midfielder Luphumlo Sifumba

Durban City have reportedly completed the signing of Cape Town City midfielder Luphumlo Sifumba.

The 20-year-old came up through the youth ranks with the Citizens before making his senior debut in the 2022/23 Premier Soccer League season.

He spent the second part of last season on loan at Portuguese club FC Vizela but returned to South Africa after failing to secure a deal.

He is now believed to have signed a permanent two-year deal with an option for a third year with Gavin Hunt’s charges.

According to FARPost: “Following Cape Town City’s relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Kaka has not featured for them this season. The club has had a difficult start, with two draws and one loss in their first three games.

“Eager for more playing time, the midfielder had been seeking a move. The two clubs have been in negotiations for weeks and finally reached an agreement that will see him join the KwaZulu-Natal side.”

City have so far signed a number of players, including Darren Keet, Haashim Domingo, Thabo Nodada, Patrick Autata, Fredrick Asare, Liam de Kock, Brooklyn Poggenpoel, Letsie Koapeng, Bokang Mokwena, Jean Lwamba, Siphelele Mthembu, Taahir Goedeman, Kyle Jurgens and Fezile Gcaba.
