Following a dominant 3-1 victory over Kaizer Chiefs, an ecstatic Eric Tinkler, praised his players for executing a flawless game plan that propelled them to the top of the Betway Premiership standings.
The win on Tuesday night saw Sekhukhune United climb to first place with 16 points, while Kaizer Chiefs dropped to third with 13 points, both from six games played.
The match was a showcase of Sekhukhune’s strategic prowess, with Bradley Grobler proving to be the hero of the night. Grobler opened the scoring just five minutes into the game, but Chiefs quickly responded through Flavio Silva’s 13th-minute equalizer.

That being said, the second half belonged entirely to Sekhukhune. Grobler secured his brace in the 50th minute, and Thabang Monare sealed the impressive victory with a goal six minutes later.
Speaking to SuperSport after the match, Tinkler expressed immense pride in his team’s performance. “We knew it would be extremely tough, but we came up with a game plan and worked on it during the week,” he said.
The coach emphasized the team’s collective effort and resilience. “We knew we would have to suffer and work hard, but the most important thing was dealing with that, coming through it, and utilizing the opportunities we created. I’m proud of the boys. What we did in training came out on the pitch. That’s how I judge myself as a coach.”
Tinkler also singled out Man of the Match Bradley Grobler for his outstanding contribution. Grobler not only scored a crucial brace but also provided an assist, bringing his season tally to six goals across all competitions.
“Bradley was outstanding,” Tinkler stated. “Not only with his two goals but with his aerial ability, winning headers, combining, and finding other players on transition. We looked a threat, and they [Chiefs] struggled to deal with us.”
