TRANSFER NEWS: Kaizer Chiefs announces the signing of former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder

Kaizer Chiefs have announced the signing of former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Lebohang Maboe, their tenth signing for the season.

The 30-year-old joins Amakhosi after struggling for game time with Sundowns, having spent the last six months of the previous season on loan at SuperSport United, which ultimately led to parting ways with the club.

Maboe is regarded as one of the most decorated midfielders in the PSL, having lifted seven league titles, one Carling Knockout, Nedbank Cup, and African Football League while in the books of Downs.

Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr., said Maboe’s experience will be vital for Chiefs as they will be competing in local and continental football, having qualified for the CAF Confederations Cup.

“We know Lebo is a quality player who has gained valuable experience in continental competitions over the past few years. His expertise will be crucial for us in both the domestic league and the CAF Confederation Cup. We’re pleased to welcome him back to Amakhosi. He was here and knows the culture and what our supporters expect from our players,” said Motaung Jr.

Maboe becomes the club’s tenth acquisition after they roped in Thabiso Monyane, Paseka Mako, Flavio Silva, Nkanyiso Shinga, Ethan Chislett, Asanele Velebayi, Luke Baartman, Etiosa Ighodaro, and Siphesihle Ndlovu.

Chiefs will be in action on Wednesday against Mamelodi Sundowns with kick-off set for 19:30 at FNB Stadium.
