Key Moments

Pirates started the match brightly, with new signing Oswin Appollis hitting the post just four minutes in. However, the team struggled to break down Stellenbosch’s disciplined defense for much of the first half.

The breakthrough came just before halftime when a swift counter-attack from the back found winger Kamogelo Sebelebele. He unleashed a powerful strike from just outside the box that flew into the back of the net, giving the home side a crucial 1-0 lead heading into the break.

The second half was a much more cautious affair. While Pirates attempted a few long-range shots, Stellenbosch gradually gained control, earning their first corner kick in the 59th minute.

Despite their increased possession, the visitors couldn’t find an equalizer, managing only one tame shot on target for the rest of the game.

Both teams will now shift their focus to the MTN8 semi-finals this weekend. Orlando Pirates will travel to Tshwane for the second leg against Mamelodi Sundowns, while Stellenbosch will look to defend their 2-0 first-leg lead against Sekhukhune United.
