Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze has moved to reassure fans that head coach Nasreddine Nabi is still very much in charge, despite his prolonged absence from the touchline.
Kaze credits Nabi’s trust in his technical staff as the key to the club’s recent resurgence, which has seen them secure back-to-back wins.

In an interview, Kaze emphasized that the communication between the coaching staff is constant. “We are always in contact with the head coach,” he said. “But he trusts our experience and knowledge.”
Kaze and fellow assistant Ben Youssef have been hands-on in training, but it is Nabi who sets the technical direction for the team.
Kaze explained that the daily presence of the assistant coaches allows them to provide Nabi with crucial on-the-ground feedback.
“We’re on the field every day, feeling the vibe, seeing what’s happening in training, and understanding which player combinations work best,” he said. “He trusts us to make the line-up, but as head coach, he’s informed daily.”
Ultimately, Kaze insists that the most important thing is the team’s success. “The technical staff is led by coach Nabi. It doesn’t matter who’s standing on the line – what matters is that Kaizer Chiefs is winning. That’s the most important thing,” he concluded.
Kaizer Chiefs will be looking to continue their winning streak when they face Richards Bay in a Betway Premiership match at FNB Stadium on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
