Goals from Enyinnaya Godswill in the 23rd minute and Devin Titus ten minutes later put the Cape Town side in control at the Danie Craven Stadium.
Although a third goal would have been a bonus, Barker was more than satisfied with the final score, praising his players for executing the game plan perfectly against a Sekhunnune team that had won its three previous matches.
“I thought it was a really good and solid performance,” Barker told the Sowetan. “The conditions were not the easiest, but I thought we handled it well, and we had our moments where we were able to play and move the ball around and ask them questions defensively. We stuck to our game plan very well.”
Barker highlighted the team’s defensive discipline, noting the importance of not conceding an away goal. “We were a little bit unlucky in the second half when we hit the crossbar, but we handled them well.
I don’t think we gave them opportunities, especially in the second half. I’m very proud of top performances from every single player, and anyone who came on added value to the team.”
Stellenbosch FC will be back in action on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, when they travel to Soweto to take on Orlando Pirates in a Betway Premiership match. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
