Thembinkosi Lorch has spoken out regarding his departure from Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Brazilians confirmed late on Thursday that they have parted ways with the attacking midfielder after spending two seasons with the club.
Lorch had a promising start to his campaign with Downs under the then-head coach Rulani Mokwena, making 26 appearances, netting seven goals and providing four assists across all competitions.
Things then took a turn for the worse after Mokwena’s departure, ultimately leading to Lorch joining Wydad on a six-month loan deal. He was impressive during the club’s participation in the FIFA Club World Cup.
The 32-year-old is rumoured to be returning to the Moroccan club on a permanent two-year deal.
In an Instagram post, Lorch penned a heartfelt message expressing his gratitude to the Masandawana family for the time spent with the Chloorkop-based team.
“As I turn to the next chapter of my career, I want to thank Masandawana for welcoming, embracing and supporting me,” he wrote.
“To the chairman and the board, thank you for allowing me to spread my wings up North. To my former teammates, coaches and technical team, I am privileged to have played with you and under your guidance,” He concluded.
The defending league champions also confirmed parting ways with midfielder Neo Maema, who is currently with the national team in the ongoing CAF African Nations Championships.
Maema was with Downs for four seasons, lifting six titles, including four league titles, one Nedbank and MTN8 titles. He was featured in 120 matches, scored 13 goals and provided 14 assists.
