Amakhosi Hit Back: Nedbank Cup champions Kaizer Chiefs Sign England midfielder After Mbule's Pirates Move

Kaizer Chiefs have wasted no time making moves of their own following Sipho Mbule’s switch to Orlando Pirates, securing the services of England-based midfielder Ethan Chislett.

The former Port Vale playmaker has signed a two-year contract with an option to extend, and is expected to land in South Africa on Thursday to finalize the deal ahead of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.

Ethan Chislett: Ready to Light Up the PSL

The acquisition of Chislett has been widely anticipated, especially after his agent, Mike Makaab, recently hinted at his potential impact in the upcoming season during an interview with iDiski Times. Makaab spoke glowingly of Chislett’s abilities, stating, “He has a great engine, but his technical ability, to pass, score goals, set-pieces, it’s absolutely phenomenal. I am quietly confident we will see him in the PSL this season.”

Born in Durban and raised in the UK, Chislett has had an eclectic career journey, including time in Southampton’s academy, a stint in Spain with Reus FCR, and a productive spell at AFC Wimbledon before heading to Port Vale. Despite interest from English Championship clubs, the 26-year-old opted to return home, potentially with a Bafana Bafana call-up on his radar.

Chiefs Gear Up for Pre-Season and #ToyotaCup

Off the pitch, Kaizer Chiefs players Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Thabo Cele, and Happy Mashiane were seen at Home Affairs in Pretoria, reportedly preparing travel documents for the club’s Netherlands pre-season tour running from July 3 to 19 2025.

Adding even more buzz, the club is set to launch the 2025 edition of the Toyota Cup on Thursday, June 26—where details about this year’s marquee match and more will be revealed.
