PSL has provided the date, venue and time for the resumption of the SuperSport United and Golden Arrows Betway Premiership match that was suspended on February 28 due to load-shedding.
The game took place at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville, where the teams went into the interval tied at 1-1. The venue was hit by load-shedding and the match officials decided to suspend the tie.
The Premier Soccer League has resolved to have the match resumed on May 29 at the same arena where the two sides will play the remaining second half at 12:00.
While Golden Arrows may consider this as a dead rubber match given that Manqoba Mngqithi’s side is safe from the play-offs and are some distance away from qualifying for the top-eight.
To be part of next season’s MTN8, Abafana Bes’thende would need to score half-a-dozen answered goals to kick out Richards Bay from the top half of the log.
SuperSport, on the other hand, are staring down the path that leads to the promotion/relegation playoffs where Casric Stars and Orbit College eagerly await. Matsatsantsa A Pitori currently occupy position 15 with 26 points.
But there is a silver lining for Andre Arendse’s men. Cape Town City have played all their games and have collected a total of 27 points. SuperSport need a victory or a draw leapfrog the Mother City out as United have a better goal difference.
