Rulani Mokwena: I’ll leave Wydad with a big respect

Rulani Mokwena admits his time at Wydad Casablanca has been difficult, but he leaves the Botola Pro 1 club through the front door.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns head coach will leave Wydad at the end of the current campaign only one season after joining the club.

His team are in third place on the Moroccan league standings, just a point behind second placed AS FAR but 16 points adrift of leaders RSB Berkane.

They have performed better than last term, where they secured a sixth-placed finish, but his team’s performances haven’t been good enough for club management to retain his services.

Mokwena said on FARPost: “My situation with the club is difficult because of the results, and it has to be difficult. That’s what happens in a big team.

“So I have to take risks to win games, and that’s it. If it’s not good enough, then it’s okay. I told you guys, I’ll finish the season and leave Wydad at the front door, not the back door.

“I’ll leave Wydad with a big respect for the people of Morocco and big respect for the club, that’s it. I’m a coach that takes risks because I want to win.”
