Kaizer Chiefs head coach Ernst Middendorp has confirmed that club captain Itumeleng Khune will be sidelined with injury for the rest of the month.
Khune only made his return from a long-term shoulder issue last month and kept a clean sheet as Amakhosi beat Amazulu 2-0 on 24 September but then hobbled off after just 28 minutes in his second match back against Baroka FC four days later.
The Bafana Bafana shot-stopper limped off with what looked like a hamstring strain and Middendorp said Khune will definitely be out for the Telkom Knockout clash against Cape Town City next week as well as the league clash against Mamelodi Sundowns on 27 October.
Middendorp said in quotes published on Kaizer Chiefs’ website: “Khune is sidelined for the month.
“We have four internationals doing duty for South Africa and Zambia.
“What’s important though is that will have all positions covered.”
Daniel Akepyi looks set to keep his postion in the Amakhosi goal for the next two games.
