Sphephelo Sithole on the radar of Kaizer Chiefs

As the building phase continues at Kaizer Chiefs under coach Nasreddine Nabi, midfielder Sphephelo Sithole’s agent, Manuel Tomas, says they are interested.

According to FarPost, the Glamour Boys made inquiries about Sithole’s services last December.

However, with the Portugal-based player sidelined due to injury, Tomas stated that while talks took place, there was no formal offer for the midfielder.

Sithole is currently recovering from a broken leg sustained while playing for Bafana Bafana against South Sudan last September.

“In December, yes, we received some calls from the club (Chiefs),” Tomas told the publication.

“We don’t know what will happen… it’s football. But we haven’t received an official offer from Chiefs for Sithole. It was just discussions with the club and the people from the club… no official offer has been made.”

Sithole is currently on loan at Tondela from Gil Vicente until the end of the season, and Tomas says they are still uncertain about the player’s future, especially as he continues his recovery.

“When the loan ends, we don’t know what the future holds,” Tomas added. “As he recovers from the injury, when he’s fully fit, the future will guide us. We won’t force anything.”

The former KZN Academy player was injured while on international duty for Bafana Bafana in September last year.

Should the move to Chiefs materialize, Sithole could reunite with his former Academy teammate Thabo Cele, who signed for Amakhosi in January.
