Ashley Du Preez is eager to repay Kaizer Chiefs for the faith the club have shown in him by offering the player a new contract.
Du Preez joined Amakhosi from Stellenbosch two seasons ago and has gone on to play 75 times, scoring 19 goals and creating seven, including four goals in 16 appearances this term.
Despite struggling with a recent injury and slight loss of form, the Betway Premiership club have tied Du Preez down for two more years.
He netted the winner as Chiefs overcame Magesi in the league last week, while most recently he helped his team secure their place in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup with victory over Stellenbosch.
Du Preez explained that he hopes to be able to repay the club with his performances.
He was reported by Soccer Laduma to have said: “As a player, you play for better contracts, and all that, but that is not where my focus is. But that’s motivating. It’s good to know that the team believed in you. I’m happy that the club renewed for two years so I’m pleased to be here for another two years.
“For that two years, what I want to achieve is more. I want to score more goals. I want to reach 20 plus goals and that is my aim for the two years that I’m going to be here.”
