The Premier Soccer League has announced the dates, venues and kick-off times for Nedbank Cup quarterfinal matches with Orlando Pirates set for the opening clash.
SuperSport United vs Orlando Pirates | 8 March
The reigning champions, Orlando Pirates, have been drawn against SuperSport United and will head to the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, 8 March. Kick-off is scheduled for 15:00.
These two sides are well-acquainted, having already faced off twice this season. Pirates eliminated United from the MTN8 competition with a 3-1 victory in extra time before going on to lift the trophy.
Their most recent encounter also ended in favour of the Buccaneers, as they secured a 2-0 win in a league match last October.
Stellenbosch FC vs Kaizer Chiefs | 8 March
Stellenbosch FC will approach this clash with a point to prove, having suffered two defeats to Kaizer Chiefs this season.
Kick-off for this clash is set for 18:00.
The Amakhosi have struggled with consistency as they attempt to restore their former glory, having gone a decade without silverware. However, Stellies remain a formidable force in cup competitions.
Kaizer Chiefs demonstrated their potential with a dominant 3-0 victory over Chippa United in the round of 16.
Steve Barker’s side, meanwhile, narrowly missed out on the MTN8 trophy earlier this season, falling to Pirates in the final.
Mamelodi Sundowns vs Milford FC/Sekhukhune United | 8 March
Last year’s finalists, Mamelodi Sundowns, will take on the winner of the Sekhukhune United vs Milford FC fixture, which is set for Sunday.
Sundowns secured their quarterfinal spot with a convincing win over Mpheni Home Defenders. They are eager to claim their first trophy of the season after a surprising 2-1 loss to Magesi FC in the Carling Knockout Cup final.
The match will kick off at 20:00 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Durban City vs Marumo Gallants | 9 March
Durban City pulled off a shocker by eliminating an in-form TS Galaxy to book their place in the quarterfinals.
They now face Marumo Gallants, a team that has endured a turbulent season and recently parted ways with head coach Dan Malesela.
This quarterfinal showdown will bring the round to a close, with the match scheduled for Sunday, 9 March at Chatsworth Stadium starting at 15:00.
