Marumo Gallants sack Malesela and Ntseki, set to appoint Moroccan coach

Dan Malesela and Molefi Ntseki

Marumo Gallants FC have parted ways with head coach Dan Malesela and technical director Molefi Ntseki following the team’s poor form.

Malesela was appointed in July last year, while former Kaizer Chiefs coach Ntseki joined the club as technical director later in the same year. However, Gallants’ management has been left frustrated by the team’s performance and has opted for a change in leadership to boost their survival hopes.

In an official statement, the club confirmed the decision, citing the need for a “fresh approach” as they sit 14th on the log with just four wins from 17 matches.

“Marumo Gallants FC has released head coach Dan Malesela and technical director Molefi Ntseki following the club’s struggle to improve its league standing. Currently 14th on the log with just four wins from 17 matches, Gallants is looking for a fresh approach.”

“The club appreciates their contributions and wishes them well in their future endeavors.”

While assistant coaches Surand Govender and Duncan Lechesa will take charge on an interim basis, Gallants have revealed they are in final discussions to appoint Moroccan coach Abdeslam Ouaddou as their new head coach.

“In the interim, assistant coaches Sundra Govender and Duncan Lechesa will oversee the team while the process of appointing a permanent head coach is finalised. Discussions are underway with Moroccan coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, who has arrived in South Africa to conclude discussions with the club.”

Ouaddou, who has previously coached AS Vita (DR Congo) and Loto FC (Benin), has also served as an assistant coach for the Algerian national team.

Gallants will be hoping his experience in African football can help them climb out of the relegation zone and secure their top-flight status.
