Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has urged his players to maintain their focus and intensity following their emphatic 4-1 victory over Orlando Pirates.
The dominant win reinforced their position at the top of the Betway Premiership, extending their lead to nine points over second-placed Pirates.
Lucas Ribeiro Costa starred with a brace, while Grant Kekana and Teboho Mokoena also found the net as Sundowns outclassed their closest title rivals.
The victory marked their seventh consecutive Premiership win under Cardoso, who took charge in December.
Since his arrival, Sundowns have scored 16 goals and conceded only twice, highlighting their attacking efficiency and defensive resilience.
Despite their strong position, the 52-year-old coach wants his players to remain sharp as they push to retain their league crown.
“Our worry is on Tuesday. We have a big responsibility because after we won against Pirates, the responsibility increased,” said Cardoso.
“We have reached a wonderful number of points [42] after the first half but there is a second round to play.
“I will keep saying the championship is far from being finished, but with each match we play we get closer to it.
“There is a long way to go. We have a small advantage that we should respect and to do that is to give our best on Tuesday.”
Sundowns have played 15 matches, one more than Pirates, and will look to continue their fine form when they take on TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday.
