Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Erwin Saavedra has completed a return to his former team, Club Bolivar.
Saavedra, 28, joined Sundowns from the Bolivian giants in February 2022. However, he struggled to live up to expectations at Chloorkop. He had already returned to Bolivar on loan in February 2024 before being recalled ahead of the current campaign.
With the return of Matias Esquivel and the signing of Lucas Suarez on loan, there was no place for Saavedra, and Sundowns decided to part ways with him in January.
Saavedra is now back at Club Bolivar, where he will be looking to revive his career.
“A great captain returns home. Erwin Saavedra Flores, an emblematic player in the history of Club Bolivar, will once again wear the jersey of Bolivia’s most successful team,” the club stated as quoted by Idiski Times.
“His 315 games for Bolivar make him one of the players who contributed most to the club’s success. His return represents the return of a great player and a true Bolivian.
“Saavedra is back, with the unconditional support of the president of Club Bolivar, Marcelo Claure. His experience and leadership will be crucial in this historic year of our centennial.”
