Gavin Hunt is under no illusions as to the task his side face against Magesi in their Nedbank Cup last 32 clash on Tuesday.
Despite struggling in the Betway Premiership, Magesi showed their quality by beating Mamelodi Sundowns in the final of the Carling Knockout Cup.
The top-flight newcomers have since lost inspirational mentor Clinton Larsen, with Owen Da Gama brought in to take the reins.
The new head coach hasn’t yet managed to secure a win in his three games in charge and Magesi remains at the bottom of the standings.
They were impressive in the league against the Brazilians last time out though before ultimately losing the tie 2-1.
SuperSport have, meanwhile, endured an inconsistent season, with four wins, four draws and six league losses to sit in ninth place and having most recently lost 1-0 to Polokwane City.
Hunt said in the Sowetan: “It’s not going to be easy. I watched Magesi against Sundowns and I can say we are up for it but it’s tough. They won the previous cup competition.
“If you look at their game against Sundowns, it was a team that’s top of the league against a team that’s bottom of the league but if you were outside, I don’t think you’d have said there was much difference, that’s how close it was. It was end-to-end stuff, so it will be tough for us especially because we will be the away team as well.
“We will have to work a little bit harder. We have not been a settled team this year. We’ve had a lot of ins and outs from the first day, so it’s been crazy. Three or four big players have not played but we will get it right, trust me.”
