Musa Bilankulu address Golden Arrows’ Nedbank Cup exit

Golden Arrows co-coach Musa Bilankulu remains optimistic about his team’s prospects for the season, despite their early exit from the Nedbank Cup.

Abafana Bes’thende were eliminated in the last 32 round of the competition after a 2-1 loss to Chippa United at Mpumalanga Stadium on Saturday.

Bilankulu, who had high hopes of adding a second major trophy to the club’s cabinet, admitted the disappointment but expressed confidence in his team’s ability to recover and finish the season strongly.

“We wanted to advance to the next round, but sometimes when you want something so badly, you lose focus,” Bilankulu said during the post-match press conference.

“It’s unfortunate that we’ve now lost ten games, but this serves as a valuable lesson. We’ll go into our next game against Sundowns on the second [of February] with our heads held high. I still firmly believe we can compete in the Betway Premiership for the remainder of the season.”

Golden Arrows face a challenging fixture list ahead, with matches against league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, Cape Town City, and Orlando Pirates.

Despite the setback, Bilankulu is determined to rally his squad and maintain their competitive edge in what promises to be a crucial stretch of their campaign.
