Kwanele Kopo says he is open to offers following his shock departure from Chippa United.
The former Pretoria Callies head coach stepped down from his role with the Chilli Boys, with the club languishing in 11th place on the Betway Premiership standings.
He had refused a contract extension before parting ways with the team last week and explaining that he left after feeling he had taken them as far as he could.
Speaking to the Sowetan, Kopo explained he is open to a number of positions.
He revealed: “I don’t know yet where I am going but I am available whether it’s [Premiership or second division].
“I am available to work as a head coach, as an assistant coach and as a technical director. At the moment, there’s nothing concrete.
“The first round of the season is not finished yet, so maybe teams want to see how they fare after the first round before deciding on their coaches.”
On his Chippa departure, Kopo explained: “My contract was coming to an end. I was offered an extension but I decided not to extend.
“A lot of the reasons are personal but I felt that during the time I was at the club, I had done all that I could under the circumstances.”
“I felt that I needed a change of environment, but I appreciate the opportunity given to me. It was my decision to leave Chippa, it was for my personal reasons which I can’t disclose.
“So I was offered a three-year contract; I was surprised and taken aback by the confidence and excitement that the chairman [Chippa Mpengesi] showed at that moment. We were getting good results but I needed a change of environment.
“Even the money was good to be honest, things were going well and it had nothing to do with the terms of the contract, there were one or two minor things like the termination clause. The chairman even offered to move my family to Port Elizabeth, but I couldn’t continue.”
