Percy Tau is reportedly en route to Qatar on Thursday to finalize his transfer to Qatar SC, following a reported agreement with Al Ahly to terminate his contract.
According to Afrikfoot, he will undergo a medical in Doha next week before officially signing. The Bafana Bafana attacker has seen limited playing time at Al Ahly since the latter half of last season, as the club aimed to free up space in their squad.
Having now secured compensation for the remaining six months of his contract, Tau is poised to join Qatar SC, who moved quickly to secure his signature amidst interest from other clubs, including Kaizer Chiefs.
According to Qatari media outlet Al Arab, Tau is traveling with his agent, Mmatsatsi Sefalafala, who facilitated his entry visa. Tau has reportedly packed his belongings from Cairo and bid farewell to his teammates at Al Ahly, indicating that his time with the Egyptian club has concluded. He is set to arrive in Doha to finalize this transfer. Furthermore, the Lion of Juda will not be part of Al Ahly’s squad for their upcoming Champions League game in Abidjan.
During his spell with Al Ahly (since January 2021), Tau has played 125 matches, scoring 30 goals, and providing 14 assists. During his tenure, he helped Al Ahly win 11 trophies, including two CAF Champions League titles. His contract with Al Ahly was set to expire in June 2025, but recent developments suggest a mutual termination of his contract.
