Clayton Daniels: Hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel for Spurs

Clayton Daniels admits it’s sad to see Cape Town Spurs struggling at the wrong end of the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

The Urban Warriors were relegated from the South African top-flight last season and have endured a woeful 2024/25 campaign.

Spurs are currently in 14th place on the First Division standings with just two wins from their opening 14 games.

Daniels, who played 92 times for the team when they still operated as Ajax Cape Town, says he empathises with the players.

Reflecting on his former team, the veteran defender explained that he finds it hard to accept Spurs’ ongoing problems.

He told FARPost: “You know, it’s a difficult space that they find themselves in.

“You know I don’t want to talk much in detail about Spurs. But I feel sorry about the players who are there, trying their utmost best to get out of the situation.

“The players don’t deserve that [what they are going through now]. Unfortunately, certain things are out of their control.

“I know what they are going through. I have been there. So, they must keep their heads up and keep working hard. Hopefully, there is a light at the end of the tunnel to keep their hopes and dreams of Cape Town Spurs in the NFD.”

Spurs are next in action at home to Casric Stars on Friday 10 January 2025.
