Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi says Gaston Sirino could still play for South Africa.
The 33-year-old Uruguayan attacker was let go by the Brazilians at the end of last season after six and a half years with the club.
He started his Amakhosi tenure well and has already weighed in with two goals and three assists in five games in all competitions this term, although he recently picked up an ankle injury.
Sirino became eligible to play for Bafana last year but he has seemingly not been considered because of his age.
Bafana Bafana boss Hugo Broos was in attendance during Chiefs’ 1-0 loss to SuperSport United in the Betway Premiership on Saturday.
After the SuperSport match, Nabi said on KickOff: “He trained once this week. We wanted to start him to see what he can give us, but we were very aware that he was not fully fit. If Sirino is fully fit, he deserves to play with Bafana Bafana.”
