Kaizer Chiefs comfortably advanced to the quarterfinals of the Carling Knockout Cup with a dominant 4-0 victory over SuperSport United at the Peter Mokakba Stadium.
Amakhosi controlled the majority of the match, deservedly securing their place in the tournament’s final eight. Gaston Sirino opened the scoring just after the half-hour mark, assisted by Mduduzi Shabalala.
Captain Yusuf Maart doubled Chiefs’ lead early in the second half with a powerful header from Sirino’s corner. Ranga Chivaviro added a third goal before Gape Moralo was sent off for SuperSport United.
Edson Castillo provided a brilliant assist for Ashley du Preez to seal Chiefs’ victory in stoppage time. The Soweto giants will now join Mamelodi Sundowns in the quarterfinals, while Orlando Pirates were eliminated by Magesi.
